South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication
The South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication project aimed to enhance Victoria’s busiest regional rail line by improving service frequency, reliability, and station facilities. The project included the construction of two elevated rail bridges for level crossing removals at Fyans Street and the Surf Coast Highway, approx. 8 kilometres of track duplication, and significant signalling upgrades.
Key features also included the upgrading of South Geelong and Marshall stations with new platforms, ramps, stairs, lifts, and overpasses, along with improved parking and forecourts. Over 5 kilometres of shared user paths were be created, linking South Geelong and Waurn Ponds. Additionally, the project includes the construction of two large diameter water pipelines, utility relocations, and drainage system upgrades.
