Did you know just 5mm of rain used to flood this Hobsons Bay road? That’s now a thing of the past, thanks to the Racecourse Road Altona Culvert and Ford Crossing Upgrade — a $2.5 million project led by SME Civil Construction, with engineering support provided by DEC Projects.

In the last six months, DEC Projects has assisted small to medium sized contractors in securing over $116 million in work. We’re thrilled to welcome Grace Nan to the DEC Projects team. Grace joins us as an Estimator, bringing over 10 years’ experience marine and civil engineering construction. She brings expertise in cost estimation and tender submissions across industrial buildings, water treatment plants, drainage and road works, and marine civil structures, along with a background in renewable energy projects.

We’re excited to share that Tom Baulch, our Senior Project Engineer, recently worked with Downer Transport & Infrastructure on the Hobart Airport Runway Upgrade Project. This vital project involves upgrading Hobart Airport’s airfield infrastructure, including strengthening the runway, upgrading taxiways, and constructing a new taxiway, to support increased aviation operations and boost Tasmania's tourism. 

We recently brought together our estimating and engineering team for an insightful knowledge-sharing session. Our team shared their hands-on experience managing cranes and heavy-lifting requirements on civil projects, giving our estimators more insights to ensure informed and accurate estimates. 

We are thrilled to announce George Alysandratos joining DEC Projects as an Estimator.  With a background in civil engineering, structures, concrete remediation and demolition, he brings hands-on experience in construction project management of commercial and industrial projects. 

DEC Projects's David Blamey is the project manager overseeing the delivery of the Warm Fill Facility for Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, successfully moving their Point of Sale operations to a new warehouse.

Our DEC Projects team celebrated International Women in Engineering Day at an event hosted by Engineers Australia at the State Library of Victoria.

DEC Projects recently had the pleasure of hosting our first work experience student, Lia! Throughout the week, our entire team shared their expertise in engineering, estimating, marketing, business operations, and even arranged a site visit to one of our projects! We concluded the week with a morning tea to celebrate all of Lia's achievements.

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Robert Logan to Estimating Manager. Rob joined us two years ago, during which time he held the position as Senior Estimator, playing a key role in building client relationships and the training of team members.

The DEC Projects team and partners have been working tirelessly at Keon Parade. Their hard work has paid off with the successful removal of the dangerous level crossing, marking a significant milestone in the project.

Meet our new team members: Jessica, Estimator with experience in Civil Engineering design and site delivery; George, Estimator and Chartered Civil Engineer with experience in Hong Kong and the UK; and Jocelyn, Marketing Coordinator with expertise in marketing, graphic design, tendering, and project management.

DEC Projects and Nasi Civil have been doing some great work on Melbourne Water assets at Level Crossing Removal Project jobs. This one was a tricky 7.5m deep excavation and micro-tunnelling 50m to a 6m deep exit pit. Both ends needed large in-situ pits constructed that got dug out with a 30t machine with a quick hitch boom attachment to get that extra depth needed.

Our team worked on the Ferguson Street, Williamstown Station level crossing removal, which included completely revamping the surrounding precinct. It was a journey for the team to get there but great to see the end result

Real time data on progress is imperative when planning, forecasting and tracking job progress. DEC Projects are producing this data daily for our clients with the help of Propeller Aero.

Sometimes weather can get the better of you. But Nasi Civil and DEC Projects have persevered through and continue to deliver great drainage infrastructure throughout Victoria. It sure is great to get this pit finished!
